As the nesting season for loggerhead turtles gets underway, volunteers with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium are taking note of lighting violations that could threaten the turtles’ survival.

Students release school-raised trout (Westport News)

After months of nurturing care, Staples students enrolled in advanced environmental science had to say goodbye to their babies. What began as tiny trout eggs had emerged into about two-inch fingerlings fit to leave the confines of their aquarium and enter the wild.

Aquarium staff release seal, then rescue nearby Steller sea lion (Vancouver Sun)

Minutes after the release of a rescued northern elephant seal on a beach west of Sooke Friday, staff from Vancouver Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Rescue Program found themselves wading into the chilly water to rescue an ailing Steller sea lion.
