White Koi

Wednesday 30 June 2010 @ 9:13 am

pnbsp;/p
pInitially, when the Japanese started breeding the Koi from other fish mutations, there were only one or 2 colors. The Koi grew more and more popular and over the years people started to breed them to get them in different colors and pattern combinations. Today, yoursquo;ll see Koi, red, black, green, yellow and even white./p
pKoi are grouped into different varieties and each has certain standards but you will get pattern diversity in most of them. There are some which are more popular than others ndash; one being the Kahaku Koi. Itrsquo;s white and has red markings. The other popular Koi Hirarimono or Ogon./p
pnbsp;Being able to recognize the different varieties ofa title=Koi fish href=http://www.KoiColors.com target=_blank Koi fish/a is easier when you have an understanding of the various classifications that Koi are grouped into.nbsp; Each variety has certain standards but pattern diversity is acceptable in most varieties.nbsp; There are a couple of very popular Koi varieties.nbsp; One popular variety is Kahaku Koi.nbsp; These Koi are white with red markings.nbsp; Another popular Koi variety is the Hirarimono or Ogon variety./p
pnbsp; There are others too ndash; Hakiri meaning metallic, with Mono meaning single colour. The Ogon Koi, for instance are metallic in appearance and do not have any other color on them. A common variety, the Yamabuki Ogon is yellow. When Koi is white, it is known as Ogon Koi ndash; they will be white from the head to the tail and the finds too./p
pnbsp; Both Ogon Koi and Platinum Koi are very popular because their bodies appear to shine like precious metal. They are a cross between Kigoi and the grayish silver Nezu. They are hardy and you can expect them to grow rapidly. They are also not so demanding in terms of pond cleaning ndash; because they have such brilliant color, they stand out even in murky water./p
pnbsp; You can breed Platinum Koi with Ginrin scales to make them appear even shinier. The scales create a glimmering effect that reflects off the fish and they look like cut diamonds. The scales have to be many and large ndash; an observer should be able to see them as the Koi swims past. 20 scales are considered a good number./p
pKoi fish are loved for their color ndash; their pigment shows off well from birds view. No wonder that in Koi shows in Asia, the guests are allowed to view them from the top. The White Koi look magnificent that way./p

The Meaning Of Koi

Monday 28 June 2010 @ 12:39 am

pa href=http://koifish.online-re-source.com/ target=_blankKoi fish/a are wonderful fresh-water creatures. They are considered the most popular and most beautiful ornamental fish one can ever have, and look particularly fantastic in a pond. Their brilliant and shimmering colors have a mesmerizing quality, and some say that despite being such energetic swimmers they nevertheless have a therapeutic effect on the beholder. Although , these arenrsquo;t the only reasons people have for owning koi fish. Most breeders and enthusiasts have them around because they each believe there is a significant a href=http://koifish.online-re-source.com/koi-fish-meaning target=_blankmeaning of koi fish/a./p
pnbsp;/p
pThe word koi itself is simply Japanese for ldquo;carprdquo;. Additionally though, koi has become synonymous with love and affection in their culture due to the nature of its kanji. To elaborate, the word ldquo;koirdquo; is a homophone for another word which means ldquo;love or affection, rdquo; and the kanji character for ldquo;heartrdquo; (kokoro) is included as part of the kanji characters of both ldquo;koirdquo; and ldquo;love.rdquo; ldquo;Koirdquo; has to be construed though, as ldquo;romantic loverdquo; or ldquo;passionate love, rdquo; and not the general feeling of love. The meaning of koi fish, consequently, has become symbolic for love and friendship in Japan./p
pnbsp;/p
pIn Japanese society, the meaning of koi fish is also symbolic of family. On the annual Childrenrsquo;s Day, koi flags are raised, in colors signifying each member of the family: black koi for the father; orange or red for the mother; blue or white for the son; and red or pink for the daughter. In Chinese culture, on the other hand, the meaning of koi fish is courage and perseverance especially in times of adversity. Buddhists liken the koi fish to humans ldquo;swimming without fear through the ocean of suffering, rdquo; and they probably also got this idea from a famous Chinese myth. The Chinese believed that when a koi successfully made the upstream climb up the falls at a point called Dragon Gate (on the Yellow River), it magically changed into a dragon.nbsp;/p
pnbsp;/p
pBy and large, the meaning of koi fish is believed to be that of good luck, successfulness and long life. The koi is known to live as long as 30 to 50 years, and there is proof that at least one has lived to the ripe old age of 226 years, passed down from keeper to keeper. Since caring for even one single koi can be expensive, the successful maintenance ofttimes signifies the presence of wealth, which explains the reference to prosperity. There is an existing long-standing debate regarding the significance of color in the koi. Some say, the more colors in one koi, the more fortunate in life one shall be. Others believe that it is the shape of the colors that matter: round patches give the impression of coins, and therefore riches. Still others insist that color has no bearing on the meaning of koi fish./p
pnbsp;/p
pThe koi fish indeed holds many meanings for many people. But they are all unanimous in one thing: whether there is a meaning of koi fish or not, koi is much loved for what it is ndash; the most beautiful fresh-water swimmers./p

Koi Fish Information

Sunday 27 June 2010 @ 4:47 am

pIf you know the common carp, Koi fish are their domesticated version. The name itself comes from the Japanese word ldquo;carprdquo;. The Japanese started breeding Koi fish a long time ago ndash; in the 1820rsquo;s and they have since bred them into different varieties. Yoursquo;ll get them I different colors ndash; black, red, orange, silver green and even blue./p
pOutdoors Koi ponds are considered relaxing ndash; the sound of the rippling water especially as it flows through your yard. If the pond owner is quite deliberate about putting attractive plants in, that makes the environment around the pond even more relaxing.nbsp; The whole point of the plants is to create as natural an environment as possible for the Koi./p
pThere are cases where Koi and plant donrsquo;t live well together though; this may have to do with the way the pond owner has placed the plants ndash; they should not sit in a pot, but they should be sitting on the pond floor, if possible naturally growing there. When pots are used, the larger fish can knock them over, and once the soil in on the pond floor, the fish start to dig it up. The result of course is murky water and a pond thatrsquo;s that much harder to clean./p
pnbsp; If you feel you really want to have potted plants in the pond, there are things you can do to protect them. You can wrap netting over the plant, so that it hugs the pot and the fish canrsquo;t reach them. Pouring pea gravel on the plants so that when the pot is upset, it doesnrsquo;t pour the soil all over also helps. If you have large pots, get river stones put inside will make them harder to turn over. And the Koi will also have a harder time reaching the soil ndash; theyrsquo;ll soon give up./p
pstrongWondering what flowers would look good in your Koi pond?/strong/p
pnbsp;Lilies for a start. Just the fact that they come in so many varieties makes them a wonderful option ndash; you can have so many of them sitting in the pond all looking different. And there are varieties that grow in shallow water too, so that should not be a problem ndash; in fact perfect for panting directly at the base of the fish pond./p
pIf you want the ones that grow better in deeper water, you may have to go the pots option to make sure that the fish donrsquo;t upset them. Deep water lilies have broader leaves which mean more shade for the fish./p
pPlants have an added advantage too ndash; they attract insects which are good for Koi fish ndash; they are omnivores and insects and larvae are great for them. Koi can be friendly too, and will eat anything, and right out of your hand. If they are fed consistently by one person, they tend to take a liking to that person and will get used to eating out of their hand. Since they are omnivores, share your peas, your lettuce, and even bits of melon that are left over./p
pMake the outside of your house a great place if you have the ability to. A Koi pond is one way of experiencing nature right at home ndash; theyrsquo;ll make you happy and yoursquo;ll get the satisfaction of watching them grow./p

Best Types of Koi Treatment â#128;#147; Without Chemicals!

Saturday 26 June 2010 @ 5:24 am

pLooking to find an effective koi treatment that will stop your fish contracting disease? This is one of the simplest yet often forgotten disease preventatives availablehellip; and as you may have gathered, it is all about preventing disease, as opposed to curing koi that are sick./p
pAnd I would safely dare to wager that there is not one koi fish enthusiast around who would not take any steps necessary to keep their fish free from any form of disease, because everyone is aware that a mere one ill fish can quickly multiply its sickness to the remaining koi unless take very quick action./p
pSo instead of merely hoping and praying that fish diseases do not attack your pond, here is a fantastic means to get proactive with a a href=http://koifishcenter.info/koi-treatment/koi treatment/a that stops dead most bacteria and disease before it has the opportunity to take holdhellip; and itrsquo;s called strongempreventing stress!/em/strong/p
pstrongemKoi fish that are stressed arenbsp;exposed to disease! /em/strong/p
pYes its true… koi fish actually get stressed!/p
pIn the same way that too much stress is a contributing factor to many of human illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, mental illnesses and any number of other sicknesseshellip; stress also greatly affects your koi, and they become much more apt to disease./p
pAnd its because stress cause their immunity to diminish and a lower immunity make them vulnerable to many forms of harmful bacteriahellip; where vigorus koi fish are much more disease resistant and far less likely to contract diseases./p
pemSo…what causes koi fish tonbsp;become stressed? /em/p
pWell it mainly depends on their physical surroundings and environment. If you are a wise koi keeper you can gain good understanding of what koi need most, then seek to provide your koi with the very best natural environmenthellip; thereby eliminating many factors that stress your fish./p
pSo herersquo;s what you need to do:/p
pstrongemMake surenbsp;koi always have a good quality water supply/em/strong/p
pAnswer this questionhellip; Would you have a good chance of survival if the air was thickly polluted and full of smog all the time? Not too likely huhhellip; koi fish are just the same - they must have oxygen rich, clean and well filtered water ndash; otherwise they will become stressed!/p
pstrongemstrongemAnd herersquo;s what happens when they get stressed/em/stronghellip;/em/strong/p
pAs soon as a koi comes under stress it produces and releases emadrenalin/em into itrsquo;s bodyhellip; which is a natural defence system, giving the fish strength, speed and stamina. So if the koi senses any predators the adrenalin produced allows the koi to quickly move to a safer position ndash; which is fine as the adrenalins only really produced when they are under threat - which is not all the time./p
pBut… poor water will cause stress and so they begin making excess adrenalin to counter the stress./p
pAnd it has dangerous effectshellip; because excess adrenalin unbalances the salt levels in the pondrsquo;s ecosystemhellip; that decreases the koirsquo;s resistance and makes them vulnerable to diseasehellip; you can spot the dilemma here right?/p
pstrongemSo… thats reason #1… heres reason #2… /em/strong/p
pKoi naturally produce a mucus that is a protection between the koi, its surroundings and… pararsites! Howeverhellip;too much mucus will in fact aid the growth of two dangerous parasites called emcostia/em and emtrichodina./em/p
pememSo you also get this problem from excess adrenalin/em…/em/p
pThe excess adrenalin causes a salt imbalance and the water quality worsens ndash; so the koi reacts with extra mucus production as a form of protection ndash; but unwittingly, the extra mucus actually attracts emcostia/em and emtrichodina… /emso itrsquo;s a no win situation for your poor koihellip;/p
pstrongemSohellip; can you see how vitally important it is to keep the koirsquo;s water quality near perfect?/em/strong/p
pAs stated prior strongemstrongemprevention is far, far better than cure/em/strong/em/stronghellip; and in this case preventing your koi from becoming stressed through good water quality is actually the ultimate a href=http://koifishcenter.info/koi-treatment/koi treatment/a around ndash; and there is virtually no expense - just a little time on your part./p
pThis is not saying that you will avoid all diseaseshellip; because there are some types that do need to be treated by other methods - but it goes a long, long way toward keeping most diseases at bay, and raising a pond chock full of healthy, vibrant koi fish./p

Relocating with Your Animal Friends

Friday 25 June 2010 @ 4:36 am

p/p

The summer is here, and so is relocating time. Summer time is an extremely popular period for families to move simply because school is over for the year and most organizations are finished meeting. Although the summer season is a good time period for relocating, it is crucial that you keep in mind your animal friends in the planning process.br /br / It is not frustrating to relocate together with your cats and dogs, but there are actually quite a few things that you will have to take into consideration first, specifically during the summer time.br /br /We all know that our house animals cannot speak to us in a vocabulary that we entirely comprehend. Concurrently, our house animals feel the stress and panic that relocating, and change in general, brings with it. Therefore, it is up to us as masters to make certain that they dont endure excessive anxiety.br /br / Be sure that you evaluate the cues that your furry friend offers you so that you will discover how to behave. Remember that no one is able to inform your family pet about the relocation, so you may just need to take care of the complications when they happen. Always be prepared to deal with challenges.br /br /It is a good idea to employ a title=interstate movers href=http://www.movingcompanies.us/interstate-movers target=_blankinterstate movers/a to undertake any moves over extended distances. This will likely free up your time and energy to take care of kids, relatives, and pets. The biggest worry youll have, however, is dealing with the response that your dog or cat could have to folks with new scents. In almost all cases, you will need to separate your dog or cat from the action and alert the moving companies to steer clear from the place where your furry companion is secured. Not only will this keep the small pet quiet, but it may prevent accidental injuries that may take place when other people are exposed to your animal.br /br /If youre only relocating locally, you may still desire to employ a business to take care of the logistics of the entire challenge. a title=local movers href=http://www.movingcompanies.us/local-movers target=_blankLocal movers/a are the same as interstate movers; apart from they operate in a specialized geographic area. Consider the same safety measures with these moving organizations as you would with a long distance organization just to be safe. To your small pet, the whole world is changing, even if you wind up relocating just across town.br /br /Summer moving is one thing that most people do, mainly if they have children and dogs and cats. It may seem like a lot to manage, but such relocations can be easy and relaxed. You need to reach your new home with your critters, so take some time and plan ahead so that you can move comfortably for whatever form of cats and dogs you have. Organization and arranging will end up being the instruments which make life hassle-free.
